Reside residents came out like never before to participate in the 2018 Shamrock Shuffle! We had more than two dozen residents rocking Reside Athletics gear on race day. Congrats to everyone who ran!
Our residents celebrated St. Patrick's Day with morning yoga at State & Chestnut. We flowed to the melody of a beautiful harp accompaniment and ended the morning with mimosas.
Our March meeting of Cooking Club at The Belmont by Reside consisted of stuffed peppers, tomato avocado salad, and cinnamon doughnut muffins! We had such a great time cooking, eating, drinking, and watching March Madness.
We started off 2018 at one of our favorite Lakeview fitness studios – Iron & Oar! We try to get there as often as we can, as they’re just down the street from many of our Lakeview properties.
Saturday morning proved to be a popular workout time, as we had a huge turnout for our “Double Sweat Saturday” at FFC East Lakeview! We started the morning with “Loaded,” their pyramid-style high-intensity class, and followed it with “Barre Bootcamp.” We wrapped up the morning with KIND bars and coffee and a tour of their facility. What a great way to start off the weekend!
January kicked off our weekly winter workout called “Hit The Stairs”. Each week residents climb the 17 flights of stairs at Reside on Barry multiple times, attempting different kinds of paces and workouts each time. It’s a great way to stay fit and active in the cold-weather months!
Reside residents visited Chill Chicago in January to learn all about meditation and mindfulness. We participated in a 30-minute meditation and got the chance to explore their beautiful River North space.
Intramurals are up and running in 2018! Our first intramural offering for the year is bowling at King’s in Lincoln Park. Three teams made up of residents and staff meet every Tuesday night for drinks and bowling. It’s a great way to spend a winter weeknight!
We stopped by Studio Three last week for a HI DEF class before work and sweat it out on the mat. The high-intensity class combined some yoga moves with weights and cardio bursts as well.”
Reside Athletics spent their Saturday morning at Runner's High Studio in Old Town. Residents participated in an automated treadmill workout and refueled afterwards with mimosas, coffee, and breakfast.
Reside Athletics took over Equinox Lincoln Park for a Turkey Burn Bootcamp the week of Thanksgiving. From battle ropes to water rowers and everything in between, we got our sweat on before the holiday weekend.
Stopping by Woody's in Old Town after an intramural win proved to be a great choice for our soccer team -- we walked away with second place at trivia night!
Run club wouldn't be complete without donuts! We completed a chilly four mile loop along the lake and through Lincoln Park, ending with hot coffee and donuts at Stan's.
Our fall flag football team is hard to miss in neon green. Catch us on the field every Wednesday night this fall!
Residents were treated to a spooky tour of Lincoln Park on Halloween weekend! One of the coolest stops was seeing the site of the St. Valentine's Day massacre on Clark Street. Afterwards, we all warmed up with wine and snacks at Reside on Surf.
Cooking Club kicked off in September with two groups meeting to prepare, cook, and eat various Italian dishes (plus an amazing zucchini cake!)

Residents soaked up the last few nights of summer with a rooftop workout at Reside on Surf with our neighbors at Equinox Lincoln Park.
Reside residents participated in One Day 100 Bikes, a 40-mile group ride and fundraiser for World Bicycle Relief.
We had two chances in August to try Iron & Oar in Lakeview – between the rowing, the HIIT moves, and the strength training, this is a great studio to hit up in the area!
Equinox hosted an outdoor “Best Butt Ever” workout for our residents at our State & Chestnut property.
Our concierge, Steve Gillig, has spearheaded a Reside Tennis Club this fall. To celebrate and connect our tennis-loving residents, we hosted a tennis social. We have more than 40 residents signed up to play matches against one another! Thanks, Steve!
The Reside Athletics crew recently visited Brooklyn Boulders in the West Loop for a night of climbing, beer, and pizza.
We spent a summer Saturday completing a citywide scavenger hunt! Residents and guests split into teams and then ran all over the city solving clues and earning bonus points. After a few hours of eating hot dogs, discovering new statues, and relaxing at a few of our properties throughout, everyone met back at Reside at North Park for a cookout full of burgers, brews, and ping pong.
Reside Athletics ventured up to Slinger, WI for the Alpine Adventure Challenge. The muddy 5K took place up and down a ski hill and included every obstacle from monkey bars and rope swings, to army crawls through mud and creeks. It was awesome! We spent a beautiful Friday night enjoying the summer air with Wateriders. A group of residents kayaked up the Chicago River and learned all about Chicago’s most infamous characters throughout history.
Reside Athletics ventured out to the Junior Ninja Warrior facility in Lincoln Square last week to test out our ninja skills. We scaled walls, swung on monkey bars, and played around with all the cool obstacles they had to offer. It was a great way to shake up the work week and we will definitely be back!
Reside residents and employees all came out on Memorial Day weekend for Chicago’s annual Bike The Drive. Throughout the month of May, residents received complimentary bike tune-ups at their properties thanks to our partner Kozy’s Cyclery, just in time to break out their bikes for the beautiful Chicago summer! At MB’s Bike The Drive, the stretch from Bryn Mawr Avenue all the way to the Museum of Science and Industry along Lake Shore Drive provides city and lake views only possible at this event. Taking the streets by bike on this day every year is one of the events that makes Chicago so unique! As the summer continues, Reside Athletics is also excited to be sponsoring the Bike Commuter Challenge and Bike Week by the Active Transportation Alliance. Keep an eye out for our Reside Athletics table and free swag at many of their pit stops this week!

Reside Athletics took a trip to BRICK Chicago this past weekend to get a taste of what they have to offer. We were taken through a series of workouts all focusing on strength and conditioning. On May 22nd we stopped by Old Town Social for The Office-themed trivia night. Residents and friends tested their Michael Scott knowledge against many other competitors throughout the night.
This past weekend our residents took advantage of the sunshine with an outdoor yoga class, led by Joy Tapias from Bare Feet Power Yoga. After an hour enjoying the sunshine and Wicker Park, we walked across the street for doughnuts and mimosas at our 2010 W. Pierce location. Thanks to Stan’s Doughnuts for the deliciousness, Bare Feet Power Yoga for the zen, and, as always our residents for your presence at our events!
Thank you to All About Dance who came out for an ElectriFYD class at State & Chestnut on Monday night! We had a room full of residents and guests who loved the combination of choreography and strength. Be on the lookout for more private classes in your property’s fitness centers!
On April 22nd Reside Athletics stopped by CrossTown Fitness North Side for a private high intensity interval training class. We lunged, rowed, lifted, crunched, and ran our way through the sunny Saturday afternoon. Thanks to the crew at CTF and our amazing instructor Kristin for a great workout! On Saturday 3/25 at 9:00am join the Reside Athletics team for a 5k fun run along the lake followed by a healthy living cooking demo and brunch from Kitchfix. The event will be located at The Belmont by Reside (3170 N Sheridan Rd) and all participants will receive a piece of our new gear AND have the chance to win a Kitchfix gift card. Join Reside Living in welcoming our new Athletic Director, Lauren Lehocky. She is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to food and fitness. She joins us after more than two years as a manager at lululemon athletica, where she worked extensively on the brand’s community impact in Chicago. She is also a NASM-certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and freelance writer. When she isn’t teaching or writing, you’ll probably find her out exploring new Chicago neighborhoods and looking for the latest food craze to snap a photo of on her phone.

Reside Living sponsors sports teams throughout the year for sports like basketball, flag football and volleyball. The flag football team has recently started there fall season. The team plays Wednesday nights on the Lincoln Park Turf Fields through Chicago Sport and Social. This is our third consecutive year having a co-ed recreational flag football league. The team consists of residents from the Belmont by Reside, Reside on Clark, Reside 707, Reside at Belmont Harbor, Reside at 849, Reside on Irving Park, 2010 W Pierce and Reside at 2727. Reside resident athlete Tracy Hixon on her way to being the second place female finisher and the women’s master’s division champion at the Paleozoic 25k trail run in Palos Park on 11/12.
On Sunday, November 6th , the Reside Team climbed 103 floors to the Willis Tower Skydeck. The team practiced weekly in the 35 story State & Chestnut property leading up to the event. On September 14th, Reside residents participated in a kayak tour of the Chicago River through Wateriders. The evening started with some basic flat water kayaking instruction as well as some general river safety tips. The group then paddled down the river where they were able to get a unique view of some of Chicago's historical buildings and skyline at night. The tour focused on Chicago's infamous gangster and mob history. Reside Living residents participated in a rooftop dance party on the new rooftop area at the Park Lincoln by Reside. Resident's were taught some fun and easy to moves to hip hop and pop music by a Werq dance instructor. Afterwards, residents enjoyed some complimentary pizza and wine! The Reside Riders, a team made up of Reside residents and employees, competed in the Ragnar Relay on June 10th-11th. The race is a 200 mile relay race that begins in Madison, WI and finishes in Chicago. The race is split up into 36 total legs with each runner completing legs of various distances ranging from 2.7miles all the way up to 9.68 miles. Despite the humidity, the Reside Riders completed the race in 31 hours. Check out Reside's Instagram and Twitter feeds for more photos and highlights.
